This door knocker, and all of the owls that came after it started life as a fanciful conversation with a client, musing on which animals would best guard a doorway. A griffin? A lion? An owl? Eventually the conversation became a design, which became reality: An owl’s head, both guarding the door from mice and pests, bringing them to its young in an act of nurture. Since this first owl door knocker, I have many many many others holding any number of objects, to watch over houses and welcome in guests.
